On March 11th, 2011 at 2:46pm, an unprecedented earthquake hit east Japan.

The stories relevant to “Something to Foster Zest for Living” are extracted from the series and collected in this book. Authors published this book with great longing to extend our sympathy to those who were affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

In “Guide to Your Fascinating Life―Something to Foster Zest for Living－”, the mature nursing professionals describe their way of living with holding their heads high.

I am presently involved in nursing education at a four-year college. Nursing students enter the college with goals and they graduate with Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing.
Once they pass the national board exam, they will be nurses to contribute to the society.

When I thought about what I can do for people now, I came to a decision to publish this book.

It would be my pleasure if this book becomes people’s, especially children’s, guide book for living and leads you to healthy life style, progress, peace and happiness.

看護師、保健師、看護系教員など、社会に貢献する看護専門職がどのように人生を捉え、キャリアを発達させてきたかを語り、問い続けてきた「看護専門職の人生を育むもの」シリーズ。10年にわたり刊行を続けてきた同シリーズの中から、今だからこそ伝えたい「生きる力となるもの」をテーマに選んだ33編。2012年弊社刊『生きる力となるもの』の全編英訳版。
日本語版は、看護を通じ、人の心に寄り添ってきた自分達の思いが、少しでも被災者の皆様の心に届くこと、これからの日本を生きる人々、とりわけ子ども達の人生の参考書となることを願っての刊行であった。
未曾有の震災を経て、思うことは多々あった。極限状態の中にあっても失われない日本人の気遣いや礼儀正しさには、驚きと多くの賞賛が海外から寄せられた。
日本人のみならず、海外の方や日本で暮らす外国人にも、何らかのメッセージを伝えることができればという思いから至った今回の英訳版刊行。
成熟した20人の看護専門職が、生きる様をそれぞれに綴る。
